Which paper fish is longer? Which is shorter? How can you check?
Look a little closer

Little things to discover.

  1. Gills for breathing

Fish use gills to take oxygen from the water.

  2. Fins help with balance

A fish’s fins help keep it steady as it moves or rests in the water.

  3. Fish rest, too

Many fish rest by floating, hiding, or staying still. Rest can look different underwater!

Try it together

A little off-screen adventure.

  1. Draw three fish of different lengths on paper. Ask a grownup to help cut them out.
  2. Line up their tails. Put the fish in order from shortest to longest.
  3. Use a ruler to measure each paper fish. What did you notice?
